The Huntsville Museum of Art will open ‘WARHOL: film, fashion, photography’ on July 31, 2026, bringing an expansive survey of Andy Warhol’s work and image-making to Huntsville through October 18. The museum says the exhibition will feature more than 150 works and examines how Warhol shaped, and was shaped by, the visual culture of his time.
Presented by the Huntsville Museum of Art with support from Art Bridges, the exhibition is organized around the artist’s intertwined interests in celebrity, style, photography, printmaking and film. The museum describes it as a look at “the dazzling universe of Andy Warhol,” where art and celebrity collide. Among the works highlighted on the exhibition page are Warhol’s celebrated Polaroid portraits of cultural figures, screenprints of Marilyn Monroe and other icons, and the familiar ‘Campbell’s Soup Can’, alongside material that places those images in a wider creative context.
The checklist described online reaches beyond the best-known Warhol motifs. The exhibition includes early fashion illustrations from the 1950s, which the museum calls whimsical, hand-drawn works that point to the foundations of his artistic vision. It also incorporates couture dresses by designers including Diane von Furstenberg and Halston, underscoring the exhibition’s emphasis on Warhol’s engagement with fashion and on the links between his work and the design world.
Film and photography are also central to the presentation. The museum says the exhibition will include a viewing of ‘Poor Little Rich Girl’ (1965), starring Edie Sedgwick, together with photographs and behind-the-scenes images by Stephen Shore, Nat Finkelstein, David McCabe, Billy Name, Christopher Makos and Evelyn Hofer. Those works are presented as rare glimpses into Warhol’s Factory and the artistic and social circle around him.
The Huntsville presentation also includes a public program tied to the show. Vincent Fremont is scheduled as guest speaker on Thursday, October 1, with a talk from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a gallery reception from 7 to 8 p.m. The museum says Fremont worked alongside Warhol for decades and will share insights from the Factory era and the modern art world. Tickets for the evening go on sale Tuesday, September 1.
The exhibition opens during a busy period for the museum’s member programming. Members receive early access on Thursday, July 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., the night before the public opening. The museum’s website also notes that ‘WARHOL: film, fashion, photography’ is part of its upcoming exhibition schedule at 300 Church Street S. in Huntsville, where the institution lists the show’s run as July 31 to October 18, 2026.
