Museum Ovartaci to Open Noah Umur Kanber’s First Danish Museum Exhibition

‘Kuk kuk, er det mig der er skør?’ will be Noah Umur Kanber’s first exhibition at a Danish art museum. Museum Ovartaci will open the exhibition, which brings Kanber’s work together with that of Ovartaci.

The exhibition examines identity, gender, metamorphosis and life beyond society’s fixed categories through the meeting between the two artists’ works.

For the exhibition, Kanber has created 56 dolls, with one doll corresponding to each year Ovartaci was hospitalized. The dolls will be shown alongside ceramics, copperplate etchings and works on paper. Together, these works reflect Ovartaci’s mythological universe in a new visual language.

Kanber will also perform at the exhibition’s opening on Thursday 5 November at 5pm.

Kanber is a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and is known from the fifth season of DR’s ‘Kunstnerkolonien’ and TV 2’s ‘Forræder’.
