The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, will present ‘Ansel Adams: Majestic Lands,’ an exhibition of more than 40 works by the influential American landscape photographer. The exhibition is scheduled to open on September 13, 2026, and remain on view through May 2, 2027.
The presentation will include selections from the Museum Set, a group of photographs that Adams selected late in life as his best works. The exhibition’s focus on this personally chosen body of work offers a concentrated view of the images Adams considered most representative of his photographic achievement, alongside additional works included in the exhibition.
‘Ansel Adams: Majestic Lands’ is organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions of Los Angeles and comprises works from the collection of Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, California. The Westmoreland’s announcement identifies the exhibition as a ticketed presentation, while general admission to the museum remains free.
Tickets for the exhibition are listed at $10 for adults and $5 for children. Admission is free for museum members. The exhibition will be presented in dialogue with ‘Victoria Sambunaris: Altered Lands,’ a separate exhibition running at The Westmoreland over the same period. Sambunaris has spent more than 25 years photographing landscapes across the United States that have been shaped by human incursions into the natural world. That exhibition is organized in partnership with Silver Eye Center for Photography in Pittsburgh.
The Westmoreland has described its permanent collection as an expansive survey of American art, with a strong focus on the art and artists of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Its current and upcoming program includes exhibitions devoted to subjects including American landscape, regional industrial history, self-taught artists and contemporary abstraction. The museum is located at 221 North Main Street in Greensburg, approximately 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, and maintains free general admission supported by members and donors.
Programming connected with the photography presentations is scheduled to begin before the public opening. A members-only opening for ‘Ansel Adams & Victoria Sambunaris Exhibitions’ is set for September 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. On September 13, the museum will host a free panel discussion, ‘Perspectives on Photography,’ from 2 to 4 p.m. The Westmoreland is open Wednesday through Sunday, with regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday hours from September through May are listed as noon to 8 p.m.
