Ansel Adams was an American landscape photographer and environmentalist known for his black-and-white images of the American West. He co-founded Group f/64, an association of photographers advocating for "pure" photography with sharp focus and full tonal range. Adams and Fred Archer developed the Zone System, a technique for achieving specific tonal qualities in photographic prints through controlled exposure, development, and printing processes.
