Kurimanzutto has announced ‘Project O+O’, a collaboration between Gabriel Orozco and designer Shinichiro Ogata that will run at HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo from November 6 to 29, 2026. Co-presented with the gallery, the project is described as transforming the venue into a temporary extension of Orozco’s home, bringing together artworks, specially designed objects and culinary experiences in what the announcement calls a living exhibition.
The project centers on new works by Orozco and frames the presentation around the intersections of art, gastronomy and hospitality. According to the announcement, the collaboration reflects the creative dialogue between Tokyo and Mexico City, as well as the long friendship between Orozco and Ogata. Kurimanzutto also says the project will continue to unfold in Mexico City next year, though no further details were provided in the source material.
The culinary component is presented as an integral part of the exhibition rather than a parallel program. The announcement says the experience will celebrate the culinary traditions of Orozco’s native Mexico with casual tacos served by day and a reservation-only omakase served at night. Both will be served on custom-designed tableware by Ogata in collaboration with Cooperativa 1050° Oaxaca.
Orozco’s practice, as outlined in the gallery’s announcement, spans drawing, photography, sculpture and installation, often working from everyday materials, circumstances, encounters and routines. Kurimanzutto says the project will be staged at HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo, with the exhibition dates set for November 6 to 29, 2026.
