The painter Sasha Gordon has been named to TIME's TIME100 Next 2026 list. Her profile, written by the author and artist Chanel Miller and published on 30 September, notes that Gordon, 28, has already had several solo exhibitions in major cities, among them 'Haze' in New York in autumn 2025.
Miller's text centres on Gordon's hyperrealist paintings, describing scenes such as two soft-bodied women drifting in a wooden boat on a still pond, a tongue tipped with crescents of fingernail clippings, and a head held motionless underwater with urgent eyes. In Miller's reading, the paintings open up spaces where every side of a person can exist without defences, and their calm figures carry a strong undercurrent of feeling.
Gordon is co-represented by David Zwirner, which began working with her in September 2024. The gallery's record of her recent activity includes the solo exhibition 'Surrogate Self' at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (December 2023 to March 2024), her inclusion in 'Overflow, Afterglow: New Work in Chromatic Figuration' at the Jewish Museum in New York in 2024, and two billboards for the High Line's Moynihan Connector in New York, on view since November 2024.
