The exhibition is presented as the opening event of Ingleby’s autumn programme, pairing Mitchell—an American painter from rural New Jersey—with Tomlin, an English sculptor who divides his time between a basement studio in inner-city London and a cabin in the German countryside.

John Bright is expected to discuss the highlights of his career, his approach to costume design, the evolution of the industry over the past sixty years and behind-the-scenes stories from some of his best-known productions.

The exhibition runs from 22 August to 17 October 2026 at the Art Galleries. The artists’ new work is connected to the ecology of specific places in northern Scotland and to a poetic, subjective view of the sea.

An exhibition of Sheena Norquay’s work is currently showing at the North Coast Visitor Centre in Thurso until 17 October, before its scheduled presentation at the Main Art Gallery from 24 October to 5 December.

Thomson paints the human body with a focus on physicality, monumentality and ambiguity. The series considers the finite nature of physical being and the contemporary crisis of a collective future.
