The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will return to the lawns of Genève-Plage for the seventh edition of its summer festival, scheduled for August 13 to 15, 2026. The three-night series is set to unfold at sunset, opening with a classical concert on Thursday, followed by an Alfred Hitchcock ciné-concert on Friday and closing with a jazz evening on Saturday in tribute to Joséphine Baker.
According to the orchestra, the festival makes use of one of Geneva’s emblematic outdoor sites and continues a format that has become a regular part of its summer programming. The event is presented as a series of concerts “au coucher du soleil,” with the OSR planning to occupy the lakeside setting as the season’s light begins to fade. Doors open one hour before each concert, and the programme will be available digitally from August 6 via programme.osr.ch.
The opening night, titled 'American Summer', is listed for Thursday, August 13 at 21:15 and will be led by conductor Margaryta Grynyvetska. The programme includes Florence Price’s 'Colonial Dance', John Adams’s 'Concerto pour saxophone' with Valentine Michaud as soloist, and Antonín Dvořák’s 'Symphonie N° 9 "Du Nouveau Monde"'. The orchestra describes the evening as an outdoor musical voyage built around works that move between orchestral colour, the saxophone’s modern voice and a major symphonic standard.
The second concert, 'The Lodger', takes place on Friday, August 14 at 21:15 and pairs Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 film 'The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog' with live accompaniment. The OSR notes that the film is Hitchcock’s first true thriller and a foundational work in his career. The ciné-concert will be performed in original version with French subtitles, under the direction of Philippe Béran.
The festival concludes on Saturday, August 15 at 21:15 with 'Hommage à Joséphine Baker', a jazz evening built around the American singer Kennedy and the OSR Jazz band. The orchestra says the programme will feature Baker’s best-known hits, newly arranged by Alexandre Mastrangelo for the occasion. The tribute is framed by the institution as a celebration of Baker as a major artistic figure of 1920s Paris and of the era’s jazz-inflected modernity.
Practical information on the OSR site lists ticket prices at CHF 20 at full price and CHF 10 for AVS, AI, unemployed patrons and those under 28. The orchestra recommends bringing a blanket or folding chair for the lawn, notes limited seating for people with reduced mobility, and says food is allowed inside Genève-Plage, including picnics. A refreshment stand will operate before, during and after the concerts, and the restaurant Les Terrasses de la Plage will also be open before the performances.
