The Girona Museum of Art has unveiled the graphic proposal for this year’s 'Art-Acció', the museum’s annual day of artistic experimentation, which will be dedicated to stone. Scheduled for 26 September 2026, the event is being framed through a visual concept that links stone with permanence, transformation and resistance, drawing on the idea that even materials that seem immutable are altered over time.
According to the museum, the graphic design was developed from the image of capitals, an architectural form chosen for its capacity to connect structure and expression. The museum describes capitals as a transitional element that supports weight while turning a robust piece into a visual and artistic language, making them a fitting metaphor for the duality between durability and change.
The composition uses the capital as a kind of window, revealing different textures and stone fragments inside it. Rather than presenting stone as a rigid, single object, the design treats it as a container of multiple visual possibilities. In the museum’s explanation, the material appears as something living and changing, capable of taking on different surfaces, forms and readings.
The text accompanying the proposal places stone in a broader historical and cultural frame, noting that it has accompanied humanity since its beginnings. It points to the effects of wind, water and human action as forces that continually shape the material, underlining the idea that change is inseparable from endurance. 'Art-Acció' has been held by the museum for five years, according to the announcement, and this year’s edition continues that line of artistic experimentation.
