Pilon Gallery Ajdovščina is preparing a guided tour focused on the life and work of Veno Pilon on August 20, with museum informant Ana Vidrih Gregorič leading the visit. The gallery says the tour will introduce visitors to Pilon’s versatile artistic expression and his life story, and that public guidance is included in the ticket price.
The announcement comes as the gallery in Ajdovščina is marking a busy August program built around guided visits and family activities. In the same month, visitors can also encounter the gallery’s current temporary exhibition of Silvester Komel, whom the gallery describes as one of the key Slovenian landscape painters of the second half of the 20th century. The Komel exhibition remains on view until Sunday, 13 September.
The August programme places Pilon at the center of the institution’s interpretive work. Alongside the tour on 20 August, the gallery is also planning further public guidance linked to Pilon’s friends and their stories on 20 and 27 August. That structure indicates an emphasis not only on Pilon’s own output but also on the artistic relationships and personal contexts that surround the permanent collection.
Pilonova galerija Ajdovščina is dedicated to the legacy of Veno Pilon and presents both a permanent display of his work and a permanent collection devoted to his friends. The newsletter material also points to the gallery’s broader efforts to make its holdings accessible through talks, tours and other visitor experiences, including activities for children and a renewed edition of Pilon’s autobiography 'Na robu' in the gallery shop.
The August 20 tour is set for 16:00, and the gallery’s text says it will “take visitors behind the scenes” of Pilon’s creative world. Ana Vidrih Gregorič will guide the audience through a selection of Pilon’s works, while the ticket price covers public guided entry. The gallery’s additional tour on the same day, at 17:00, will focus on the stories connected to Pilon’s friends and is led by curator-documentalist Tanja Rijavec.
The gallery’s newsletter also places the Pilon material in a sequence of summer offerings that includes family-oriented activities with Mišek Venč, VR glasses in Pilon’s studio, and a home reading option in the form of the reprint of the expanded second edition of 'Na robu'. Within that schedule, the August 20 tour stands out as a direct invitation to encounter Pilon’s biography and artistic range in the institution named for him.
