Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit will open Karyn Olivier’s solo exhibition ‘Bend, Break, Mend’ on August 8, with the show scheduled to remain on view through October 11, 2026. According to the museum’s August newsletter, the exhibition brings together sculptures and installations that examine memory, place, labor, and the built environment.
MOCAD’s announcement places the exhibition within a packed month of public activity at the museum, including community programs, tours, live performances, and artist conversations. The institution says ‘Bend, Break, Mend’ will be accompanied by a series of community programs and artist conversations throughout August, beginning on the opening day itself.
The exhibition is described in the museum materials as a solo presentation by Olivier that considers how materials and landscapes hold histories of labor, industry, migration, and environmental change.
