Falmouth Art Gallery will present the second instalment of its 2026 collections display from 8 July to 31 December 2026, bringing together a rotating selection from the gallery’s public art collection. The display, titled 'Collections Display 2026 Part II', is listed as running at Falmouth Art Gallery in Falmouth, United Kingdom, and is described by the gallery as a showcase of historical and contemporary works.
According to the gallery’s event listing, the collections displays change twice a year and are designed to highlight what it describes as the best of Falmouth’s public art collection. The current presentation brings together an eclectic mix of local views, seascapes and portraits, reflecting the breadth of the collection rather than a single theme or period. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 during its run.
The display spotlights artists including Tilly Kettle, Peter and Matthew Lanyon, Arthur Melville, Henry Scott Tuke, Roland Penrose and Caeria Strong. No individual works are named in the listing, but the artist list suggests a range of historical, modern and contemporary practices represented in the gallery holdings.
The gallery’s wider programme for the summer and early autumn frames the collections display alongside public talks and workshops. One scheduled event, an illustrated talk on Claude Cahun by Marcus Williamson on 4 September 2026, will consider the Surrealist photographer and writer’s work in relation to the gallery’s exhibition 'Mirrors: Reflecting on Identity'. The event listing says Cahun, who lived with Marcel Moore in Nantes, Paris and Jersey, used words and images to challenge and defy traditional political and gender roles.
Falmouth Art Gallery is also planning a free family activity programme for Falmouth Week from 8 to 14 August 2026. The gallery says these activities will include creative workshops on The Moor, a carnival workshop on 8 August, and an activity tent running from 10 to 14 August with drop-in sessions inspired by 'Mirrors: Reflecting on Identity'. The programme will also include lunchtime stories with Falmouth Library and a Museums Corner featuring Cornish heritage organisations.
In September, the gallery is due to run 'Art for Wellbeing: Abstract Art – Fabric, fibres, and colour', a three-session course from 7 to 21 September 2026. The workshop series is inspired by the gallery’s Cornish abstract art collection and will use painting on fabric, heat transfer vinyl and needle felting as part of a hands-on programme focused on material exploration and personal interpretation. The gallery says the sessions are suitable for all abilities and draw inspiration from artists including Larry Ham, Andrew Lanyon, Graham Barnes and Grace Gardner.
'Collections Display 2026 Part II' remains the main collections presentation on view between 8 July and 31 December 2026 at Falmouth Art Gallery, Municipal Buildings, The Moor, Falmouth.
