The Henry Moore Institute is presenting ‘Sagarika Sundaram: Reservoir’, a new exhibition featuring a body of work developed through the artist’s recent research into felt and dyeing techniques in Kutch, north-west India.
‘Reservoir’ runs from 30 September 2026 to 10 January 2027 in the Sculpture Galleries. Working with wool and felt, Sundaram creates monumental and immersive sculptures rich in colour and texture.
All the works in ‘Reservoir’ were produced in Kutch, where Sundaram developed her research into felt and dyeing techniques.
Incision becomes an act of excavation, opening seemingly complete forms into complex spatial realms. Through material, colour, scale and bodily encounter, Sundaram demonstrates how one of humanity’s oldest materials can become a compelling language for contemporary sculpture.
Born in Kolkata in 1986, Sundaram lives and works in New York; she studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad before completing an MFA at Parsons School of Design, The New School, in New York.
Her recent solo exhibitions include Alison Jacques in London and Nature Morte in Delhi in 2025, and Palo Gallery in New York in 2023.
