A book presentation of ‘in situ – Kunstraum Buchberg’ and an artist conversation will take place on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 19:00 to 21:00. The evening will take place inside Tolia Astakhishvili’s exhibition ‘Figure of the Child’, in hosting structures created by the artist for the space. A film projection by Joerg Burger is also scheduled.
At the centre of the event is the new publication ‘in situ – Kunstraum Buchberg’, edited by Dieter and Gertraud Bogner and documenting 40 site-related artistic interventions created at Schloss Buchberg between 1982 and 2024. The project invited 40 international artists to choose a site within Schloss Buchberg for a permanent intervention, including gardens, courtyards, rooms, towers, staircases and attics, where architectural, material, functional or historical characteristics could become part of the artistic statement.
Fatima Hellberg, Dieter Bogner and Gertraud Bogner will open the evening by discussing the book and Kunstraum Buchberg. Dieter Bogner will then lead a conversation with Josef Dabernig, Dorit Margreiter Choy, Sofie Thorsen and Heimo Zobernig, all of whom are represented by works at Buchberg.
Among the examples documented in the publication are Dan Graham’s pavilion, Heimo Zobernig’s arcade in the gardens, Bernhard Leitner’s sound room in the upper courtyard and Nikita Kadan’s neon work in the chapel courtyard. The volume also includes works by Stanislav Kolibál, Sofie Thorsen and Dorit Margreiter Choy in the monumental attic.
The publication combines introductory texts by Dieter and Gertraud Bogner and Uwe Matteiß, a photo essay by Hannes Boeck, designs and realizations of the 40 permanent room installations, and a chronology of Kunstraum Buchberg’s activities.
