Triennale Milano has announced 'What we do when in silence', a special performance evening that brings concerts, choreography and projections into a single continuous flow. The event is scheduled for 25 September 2026 at 7.30 pm at Triennale Milano Teatro in Milan.
According to Triennale’s event listing, the project is conceived by the artists on invitation from UBI Unione Buddhista Italiana and Triennale. The programme brings together three artists: Enrico Malatesta, Alessandra Novaga and Nicola Ratti. The organisation describes the work as one in which sound, image, body and architecture transform one another, suggesting a performance format built around shifting relationships rather than separate set pieces.
The announcement arrives as part of a broader autumn 2026 collaboration between Triennale Milano Teatro and UBI, which Triennale says will continue with three new appointments across theatre, sound, music, dance and visual arts. In its newsletter materials, Triennale singled out tickets for 'What we do when in silence' and another performance, 'Dieci icone del bue', as already available.
For 'What we do when in silence', ticket pricing is listed at €18, with admission included for members. The event page frames the evening as a performance rather than a conventional concert or stage production, and emphasises its fluid structure in which concerts, choreographies and projections follow one another without interruption.
Triennale’s materials also situate the event within a sequence of related UBI-linked programmes at the institution in late 2026. Among them is 'Dieci icone del bue', scheduled for 1 December 2026 at FE Fabbrica dell'Esperienza Teatro, described as a multimedia work drawn from a classic of Buddhism and presented as a sensory journey through the ten stages of the Zen path.
A further programme, 'Lì dove batte il cuore', is listed for 16 December 2026 as a book presentation on John Cage, Zen Buddhism and artists’ inner life, based on Kay Larson’s biography published by Ubiliber, the publishing house of UBI. Triennale also notes a guided meditation event as part of the same set of offerings. The 'What we do when in silence' performance remains the first of these autumn appointments to be scheduled, with details given for 25 September 2026 at Triennale Milano Teatro.
