Alfonso Artiaco is presenting Thomas Hirschhorn’s ‘EX-VOTO-TOMBOLA’ in Naples from September 4 to October 31, 2026.
The exhibition brings together approximately 300 works from Hirschhorn’s POST series, produced between 2025 and 2026 using cardboard, printed matter, felt-tip pen, ballpoint pen, paper, and tape. Installed throughout the gallery like ex-votos in a church, the works resist hierarchy and classification.
Each ticket corresponds to one work and costs €500 plus 5% Italian VAT. For every ticket purchased, one numbered paper is randomly drawn from an urn, and the corresponding work is assigned to the purchaser. The number drawn is final, the assigned work cannot be exchanged, and the gallery describes the random allocation as an essential part of the concept of ‘EX-VOTO-TOMBOLA’.
Because the works vary in size, format, and subject, the random draw determines the physical and thematic character of the work assigned to each participant.
