Centro Pecci Presents ‘La rivoluzione siamo noi’

The Centro Pecci’s Project Room is presenting ‘La rivoluzione siamo noi. Powered by Mamma Mia Museum’ from 10 September to 1 November 2026, in a project curated by Serena Becagli, a curator and caregiver. The exhibition is the first presentation of Mamma Mia Museum in a contemporary-art museum. It opens in September, which the Centro Pecci identifies as a month dedicated to Alzheimer’s awareness.

Mamma Mia Museum began on social media in 2020 and documents, through photographs, curious combinations or movements of everyday objects made by Antonella Napoli, a person with dementia.

The transformative power of art and its languages, known to the daughter, makes it possible to see potential artistic installations in the apparent ‘error’. The titles of the photographs make explicit their citations or allusions to contemporary art.

The exhibition includes 25 photographs, four of them new, as well as video fragments and ‘backstage’ photographs documenting visits to museums and exhibitions. Among the backstage images is one of the author’s mother visiting the Centro Pecci, with Joseph Beuys’s work ‘La rivoluzione siamo noi’ behind her; the work gives the exhibition its title.

The exhibition is accompanied by meetings, conferences and workshops focused on raising awareness about dementia.
