Neues Museum Nürnberg will devote its Saal to Alexandra Grant’s ‘Ein Stern genügt, um an das Licht zu glauben’, presenting the US artist in her first exhibition in a German museum. The show is scheduled to run from 17 July to 11 October 2026, according to the museum’s programme and exhibition page.
Grant, born in 1973, is described by the museum as an artist who translates literary texts into images. In the exhibition materials, Neues Museum Nürnberg places that practice at the centre of the presentation, framing Grant as a figure moving between visual art and literature. The museum also says the exhibition is based on Grant’s exploration of the past and present of Nuremberg, and that four of the eight authors she has worked with are from the city or live there.
The exhibition page includes an image from Grant’s work-in-progress ‘Gnaden Überlast/Grace Overload’, a piece referred to as part of the ongoing project connected to the museum presentation. The accompanying text says Grant works on large sheets of paper with coloured lettering that can be read as well as seen. It also states that she understands herself as a mediator of women’s voices, amplifying them so they can be heard.
Neues Museum Nürnberg’s own framing of the project links the show to its wider programme in art and design. The museum, located at Klarissenplatz in Nuremberg and open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursdays until 8 p.m., presents several concurrent exhibitions across the building. Among the other current or upcoming displays listed on the site are Günther Förg’s ‘Im Flow’ in three rooms, Mariana Castillo Deball’s ‘Ella es la luna and she lights the darkness’ on the façade, and ‘WONDERLAND’ devoted to illustrated children’s books.
The Alexandra Grant exhibition is presented as a museum-wide addition to that programme, but the source material is specific that it takes place in the Saal. The museum’s website also notes a multimedia guide accompanying the exhibition, offering information, background and connections to the works. The guide is described as part of the visitor experience rather than as a separate event.
Public programming has been built around the exhibition. Listed events include a children’s ‘Experimentierwerkstatt’ on 1 August 2026, a workshop for young people on the same day, a family tour on 2 August, and recurring guided tours during the run of the exhibition. The museum also lists ‘Print my Mind’, a three-day writing and risograph workshop with author Pauline Füg, scheduled for 7 August 2026 and connected to the Alexandra Grant exhibition.
Further dates tied to the show include additional workshops on typography and watercolour, risography sessions, family workshops and guided tours, with the final listed tour taking place on 11 October 2026, the exhibition’s closing day. The museum’s announcement positions ‘Ein Stern genügt, um an das Licht zu glauben’ as a presentation of Grant’s cross-disciplinary practice and her first appearance in a German museum.
