Viborg Kunsthal will present 'Cinematic Bliss' by PLASTIC Collective in Trappegalleriet from 28 August to 13 September 2026. The pop-up exhibition is billed as part of the VAF programme 2026 and brings together four Danish animated short films in a curated film presentation.
According to Viborg Kunsthal, 'Cinematic Bliss' is designed as an exhibition rather than a conventional screening programme. The museum describes it as a set of four animated works that represent different approaches to the medium, ranging from the personal and documentary to the poetic and absurd. The works are said to move through themes including identity, relationships, vulnerability and humour, using a mix of visual and narrative forms.
The project also frames animation as something that can be experienced in the gallery space in a more reflective way. Viborg Kunsthal says that, unlike traditional festival programmes in which films follow one another without interruption, 'Cinematic Bliss' includes visual loops and digital breathing guides between the films to create pauses for reflection. A recurring element in the programme is Tobias Rud’s '1 Hour Anxiety Relief Breathing Guide for all Bean-TOBOS', which serves as a connecting thread between the films.
The exhibition is presented by PLASTIC Collective, which describes 'Cinematic Bliss' on its own site as an initiative devoted to showing short animated films in art galleries and museums. The collective says the project is a two-year pilot programme developed in collaboration with the Viborg Animation Festival, with an emphasis on curated exhibitions across selected museums and on Danish animation in particular. It also presents the project as an experimental distribution model for animated films in Denmark.
Viborg Kunsthal lists the exhibition’s opening hours as 11 am to 5 pm daily during the run, with the venue open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays. The gallery address is Riddergade 8, 8800 Viborg. The exhibition page says the show is intended for visitors with an interest in animation, art and new ways of experiencing moving images.
The newsletter from Viborg Kunsthal also notes that the film programme is part of a broader seasonal calendar at the institution, but the exhibition listing for 'Cinematic Bliss' is the confirmed event now on the schedule. It will remain on view in Trappegalleriet through 13 September 2026.
