An episode of InConversation titled ‘Anina Major: The Sacred Mangrove’ is inspired by work in the exhibition ‘Anina Major: The Sacred Mangrove’ at PAMM.
The episode includes members of the PAMM Teen Arts Council’s 2026–2027 cohort, PAMM Content Writer and Editor Nathalia Pertierra, and Wikimedia in Residence Michaela Blanc.
The work transforms the traditionally soft, impermanent practice of Bahamian palm-leaf weaving into a monumental and enduring sculptural language through clay, with ceramic forms hand-woven to resemble plaited fibers.
Major honors the labor, knowledge, and ancestral memory embedded in Bahamian craft traditions. The work elevates those traditions beyond their frequent marginalization as souvenirs or commodities within the tourism economy.
