UMOCA will open a new solo exhibition by artist, designer, writer, and educator Steven Chodoriwsky on October 16, 2026, in its AIR Space. Chodoriwsky is the 2025–26 UMOCA Artist-in-Residence and is based in Salt Lake City.
The related event, ‘Pedro Reyes Artist Talk + Opening Reception: Artists Against the Bomb & Steven Chodoriwsky,’ is scheduled for October 16, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. The fall exhibition opening reception is identified as a celebration of the opening of ‘Artists Against the Bomb’ and Chodoriwsky’s solo exhibition, with food, drinks, and gallery exploration listed as part of the reception.
Chodoriwsky’s research-centered practice engages with performance and interdisciplinary platforms, pedagogical models, and speculative acts of reading and writing within the built environment. His projects employ a diverse range of media, including site-specific installation, workshops, publishing actions, theatre pieces, and audio-visual artifacts.
Based in Salt Lake City, Chodoriwsky is Assistant Professor in the Division of Multi-Disciplinary Design at the University of Utah. Before this position, he taught at Cal Poly Pomona, Cornell, and the University at Buffalo School of Architecture, where he held the Peter Reyner Banham Fellowship.
‘Artists Against the Bomb’ is described as a traveling exhibition advocating universal nuclear disarmament and comprising more than 250 historical and newly commissioned works. Its contributors include artists, musicians, writers, and activists, and the exhibition constitutes a cultural history of global disarmament movements.
