Mexico City-based artist and activist Pedro Reyes will give a keynote artist talk at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The talk will address Reyes’s large-scale socially engaged practice spanning art, architecture, performance, and civic life, followed by a 7–9 p.m. opening reception for ‘Artists Against the Bomb’ and Steven Chodoriwsky’s exhibition. UMOCA’s event page lists the evening as beginning with the artist talk in the auditorium and continuing with the fall exhibition opening reception in the galleries.
Reyes, based in Mexico City, is widely known for large-scale projects that address social and political issues, architecture, performance, and civic life. The event materials characterize his practice as large-scale and socially engaged, bridging art, architecture, performance, and civic life.
‘Artists Against the Bomb’ is organized by Estudio Pedro Reyes in collaboration with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, or ICAN, which received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize. The presentation includes works by the Guerrilla Girls, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Peter Kennard, Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman, and Salt Lake City artist Cara Despain.
