‘Artists Against the Bomb’ advocates for universal nuclear disarmament and underscores the urgent necessity of collective action and public refusal, bringing together contributions from a diverse roster of international and regional artists, musicians, writers, and activists.

The presentation at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art highlights works by the Guerrilla Girls, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Peter Kennard, Judy Chicago, Donald Woodman, and Salt Lake City-based artist Cara Despain, including contributions described as powerful works from the broader project.

‘Artists Against the Bomb’ is organized by Estudio Pedro Reyes in collaboration with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, or ICAN, which received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.

Reyes, who is based in Mexico City, is widely known for large-scale projects addressing social and political issues, architecture, performance, and civic life, placing those areas among the subjects associated with his practice.

The listed event schedule includes an artist talk with Pedro Reyes from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by the Fall Exhibition Opening Reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; the reception listing identifies the opening of ‘Artists Against the Bomb’ alongside Steven Chodoriwsky’s solo exhibition.
