The Centre international d'art et du paysage on the Île de Vassivière (CIAPV) will host the artist Aurélien Mauplot on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 5 p.m., as part of "Interférences," its regular series of informal meetings introducing artists who live on and around the Plateau de Millevaches. The two-hour event is free, open to all audiences and ends with an afternoon snack.

Since 2009, Mauplot has been building a narrative body of work that takes many forms and draws on several disciplines, organised in cycles. Rooted in shared collective imagination, it questions our relationship to history and to faraway places, to deep time and to the fantasy of the exotic. According to the art centre, the conversation will retrace this path with the artist, moving from a first stone picked up in a forest to traces of Palaeolithic gestures, and from the theme of islands to that of the cave. Mauplot will also discuss the tools he uses to turn a work in permanent construction into potential fiction.

Visitors can combine the meeting with a visit to the CIAPV's current exhibition, "Alors nous irons trouver la couleur ailleurs." Among the works associated with Mauplot is "Moana Fa'a'aro," a composition he began in 2009 and continues to develop.
