The Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s 2026/27 season has gone on general sale, with the Glasgow Life tickets page highlighting a full concert programme at City Halls in Glasgow from 25 September 2026 to 14 May 2027. The launch arrives through Glasgow Life’s ticketing platform and newsletter, which describes the SCO as a major force in Scotland’s music scene since its inception in 1974 and as an ensemble with an international reputation for performances ranging from mainstream classical repertory to newly commissioned works and cross-art form collaborations.
According to the SCO’s own page on Glasgow Life Tickets, the orchestra is one of Scotland’s five National Performing Companies. The organisation says it believes access to world-class music is not a luxury, but something everyone should have the opportunity to participate in, and notes that its programme is presented across Scotland, overseas and increasingly online. A short statement from William Stafford, the SCO’s Sub-Principal Clarinet, also appears on the page: “What really drives us to perform, is seeing the expression on people's faces and watching them light up when we are playing.”
The season at City Halls opens on Friday 25 September 2026 with ‘Berlioz Symphonie fantastique’ at 7.30pm, followed by ‘Bach St Matthew Passion’ on Friday 2 October at 7pm and ‘Beethoven Piano Concertos’ on Friday 9 October at 7.30pm. Later October and November dates include ‘Max Richter+’, ‘Barber's Adagio & Violin Concerto’, ‘Tchaikovsky Serenade’, ‘Sheku Kanneh-Mason plays Haydn’ and ‘The Magic of Mendelssohn’, all listed for Friday evening performances at City Halls.
The run continues in December with ‘Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion & Celeste’ on 4 December, ‘Classical Revolution’ on 11 December and ‘A Baroque Christmas’ on 18 December. The programme then resumes in 2027 with ‘Beethoven Symphonies with Lorenza Borrani’ on 15 January, ‘SCO x Brooklyn Rider’ on 29 January, ‘The Great Grumpy Gaboon’ on 7 February, ‘A Celebration of Schubert’ on 12 February and ‘Prokofiev & Bartók with Alena Baeva’ on 26 February.
Further spring dates include ‘Beethoven Deconstructed’ on 5 March, ‘Beethoven Violin Concerto’ on 12 March, ‘La Voix humaine’ on 19 March, ‘The Seasons: Schumann & the Mendelssohns’ on 26 March, ‘Mozart's ‘Turkish’ Concerto’ on 23 April, ‘Beethoven's Missa Solemnis’ on 28 April, ‘Baroque Inspirations’ on 7 May and ‘Brahms Double Concerto’ on 14 May. All of the listed SCO concerts in the 2026/27 season are shown for City Halls in Glasgow.
