Ribe Kunstmuseum in Denmark opens "Seimi Nørregaard. SLUSEN" on Saturday, October 10, 2026, a special exhibition that turns the museum's rooms into a single total installation by the Danish artist Seimi Nørregaard, born in 1975. The show runs until January 24, 2027.

The museum presents the work as a journey through the borderland between the wild and the tamed, chaos and control. Nørregaard's dramatic staging draws on the immediate surroundings of the museum: the Ribe River, the sea, and the museum's own collection of nature-romantic art. In its October newsletter, the museum points in particular to the Wadden Sea, right outside its door. As visitors move from room to room, the installation is meant to mark the passage from a safe, human-made world into an unknown space in between. The museum describes the project as firmly rooted in its location while speaking to something universal, and calls it far from what visitors might expect of the institution. A booklet describing what can be found in the different rooms is available at the museum shop.

On selected days the installation is activated by a performance lasting several hours, which visitors can drop in on. The first takes place on the opening day, October 10, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, October 27, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the artist will take part in an artist's talk combined with a performance inside the installation.

The exhibition is supported by the Augustinus Fonden, the Beckett-Fonden, Knud Højgaards Fond, the Ny Carlsbergfondet, the Statens Kunstfond and the Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond, with thanks also to the Statens Værksteder for Kunst, the Danish state art workshops.
