The exhibition brings together more than 25 artists and comedians, showcasing painting, sculpture, film, performance and installation work.
From absurdity and surrealism to politics and personal confessions, the exhibition explores why humans laugh, what we're laughing at and whether we're all just coping as best we can.
Contributors include Magda Archer, Claire Dorsett, Jenny Eclair, Olaf Falafel, Ryan Gander, Rosie Gibbens, Marty Gleeson, Ella Golt, Winnie Hall, Emma Hart, Harry Hill, Andy Holden, Jessica Hynes, Sarah Lucas, Annie McGrath, Jim Moir, Rebecca Moss, Rory Mullen, Simon Munnery, Harold Offeh, Janette Parris, Amrit Randhawa, David Shrigley, Olivia Sterling, Chester Tenneson, Johnny Vegas, Katy Wix, John Wood & Paul Harrison, and Wilfrid Wood.
Visitors can take on a special Taskmaster challenge devised by Alex Horne and experience a mischievous audio guide to the LS Lowry collection by Manchester comedian Edy Hurst. They can also enjoy special one-off events including a hilarious panel talk and a takeover evening by Manchester comedy collective Fight Club. Funny People will be touring to The Burton at Bideford in North Devon in Summer 2027.
