Fundació Miró Mallorca will open four temporary exhibitions on 19 September 2025, bringing together new projects by Grip Face, Stella Rahola Matutes, Mabi Revuelta and Biel Llinàs. The institution says the evening inauguration will begin at 20:00, with guided visits, presentations and participatory activities included in the opening programme. The exhibitions are scheduled to remain on view into 2026, with the longest-running of the announced shows continuing until 22 March 2026.
The strongest focus of the institution’s announcement is Grip Face’s 'Utopía del Lodo y Sashimi de Bruma', a site-specific immersive installation in the Espai Cúbic. The work addresses the contemporary global war context, with particular attention to the devastating effects of conflict on civilians and children. According to the exhibition text, it communicates a clear pacifist and anti-war message through symbolic and visual resources, rather than an explicit declaration.
The installation is built from twelve suspended sculptures — masks held by thorn cords — arranged in the shape of the European Union symbol. The exhibition text says that this configuration is deliberate, as it questions Europe’s pacifist identity and its ambiguous role in relation to armed conflict. The masks are described as fragmented and ambiguous figures that can be read as silent presences, avatars of resistance or protective amulets. The artist also draws on news reports of bombings in playgrounds in places such as Gaza and Ukraine, using the swing as a symbolic element to underline the fragility of childhood in wartime.
'La Biblioteca', by Stella Rahola Matutes, will open in Espai Zero at 19:30 on the same day. The exhibition presents more than 2,000 discarded pieces of borosilicate glass collected by the artist in different workshops in Catalonia. The institution describes borosilicate glass as a resistant, ultra-clear material that requires higher temperatures than ordinary glass to melt, and one that can only be worked by hand rather than mechanised or industrialised means. Rahola Matutes’ installation practice, as outlined by the museum, uses those residual materials to create situational encounters and to examine the relationship between making, material culture and the body.
Also opening at 19:30 is Mabi Revuelta’s 'La màscara habitada', in the Auditori. The work is a 4K film of 30 minutes in colour and sound, and it centres on a dialogue between two characters, Joan and Ninna, who move through Son Boter, one of Joan Miró’s studio spaces. The film features contemporary dancer Pilar Andrés as Ninna, with voices by Gabriel Ocina and Ena Fernández. The exhibition text situates the work within a series of audiovisual essays begun by Revuelta during her stay at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, where she made films in 2023 grouped under the title 'La stanza dipinta' ('The Painted Room').
Biel Llinàs’ 'Palacios de la memoria' is also part of the inauguration programme, although the source material provided here gives the most detailed exhibition description for its earlier presentation in 2025. That text describes a labyrinthine construction made from frames shaped like the initials CV, which functions as a mnemonic device and a fictive architectural space for memory. The exhibition also includes large-format paintings, drawings and archive photographs, using architecture to explore the distance between the present and historical time. The earlier listing on the foundation’s website placed the show in Espai Zero from 9 April to 31 August 2025.
Fundació Miró Mallorca presents itself as the current home of the Moneo building, inaugurated in 1992, and its programme combines exhibitions, visits and activities around the island’s contemporary art scene. For the September opening, the foundation says the evening will include institutional greetings, commented visits led by the artists and free access to the exhibitions with the artists accompanying the visit until the event closes at 22:00.
