Kalmar konstmuseum will open the 2026 edition of ‘Sydosten’, described as southeastern Sweden’s largest art salon. The juried salon includes 83 artists and 126 works from Småland, Blekinge and Öland.
The opening celebration will take place across a full day and evening, with an inauguration ceremony, performances, relay tours and music at Kalmar konstmuseum and restaurant Byttan. Participating artists will also set the tone for the salon through its own DJ marathon.
‘Sydosten Forum’ is a new meeting place created by Kalmar konstmuseum for artists and other professionals in the art field.
During the opening day, the forum will create a platform for conversations and meetings between different participants in the art field, combining speed meetings with gallerists and curators, panel discussions about making and showing art in southeastern Sweden, and networking among practitioners before the doors open to the public.
In short, focused meetings, selected artists will be able to present their portfolios and practices to invited curators and gallerists from the region and from elsewhere in Sweden.
