Galerie Thomas Schulte will present ‘Die Sein: Para Psychics Expanded (Excerpt)’, Kerstin Brätsch’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, during Berlin Art Week 2026. The exhibition will transform the gallery’s Corner Space and adjacent window front into a site-specific installation running from 11 September to 7 November 2026, with a Gallery Night opening scheduled for 10 September from 6 to 10pm. The title’s final parenthetical note may suggest a kind of microcosm, a mirror onto something larger—or other—than itself.
The site-specific installation gives shape to an immersive environment: a shared yet fluctuating encounter rooted in the body and moving beyond material conditions. Installations previously set in other exhibition and spatial contexts are adapted or reiterated in different scales and materials, reemerging elsewhere and in changing relationships.
In the Berlin presentation, traces of works associated with stucco marmo and mosaic appear in other forms rather than being shown directly. Galerie Thomas Schulte describes this movement as one between painting, stone imitation, stone and two-dimensional image.
Color fields often bordered by darker, thicker lines, like stained glass, suggest a susceptibility to changes in light and opacity. Their kaleidoscopic intersections, which are not fully geometric, can recall mirrored Rorschach inkblots, many-faced entities or entangled vegetation, offering themselves to experiential and interpretative multiplicity. In some works, prism-like reflections give the sense of peering inside crystal; entwining strands like DNA open up into portals, while translucent orbs glow from some inner light source.
A loose formal association with tarot cards and other systems of divination is among the sources informing Brätsch’s approach to the Para Psychics series, extending an invitation to manifold possible readings.
