Kunsthalle Emden will show the exhibition ‘REBELLINNEN’ from 3 October 2026. The exhibition’s stated run extends from 3 October 2026 through 28 February 2027.
‘REBELLINNEN’ will present works exclusively by women artists who shaped the art scene of the 1980s. The opening is linked to the handover of a gift from the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung to Kunsthalle Emden.
Among the artists represented are Elvira Bach, Miriam Cahn, Jutta Koether, Michaela Melián, Rosemarie Trockel, Bettina Semmer and the group Weibsbilder.
The opening will take place on 3 October 2026 at 6pm at the VHS Forum, An der Berufschule 3, in Emden. Admission and a reception with sparkling wine will begin at 5pm.
The Kunsthalle will remain open until 9pm after the opening, and admission is free.
Bettina Semmer is identified as an artist and co-curator of the exhibition. Silke Oldenburg is the scientific director of Kunsthalle Emden.
