‘Masterclass - Die Brücke & Der Blaue Reiter’ is listed for 20 October 2026, from 16:00 to 17:00. The event will take place in the museum’s auditorium on level 3.
The session will examine the inspiration, self-understanding and purpose of Die Brücke and Der Blaue Reiter, as well as their place in art history.
Die Brücke was formed first at the beginning of the 20th century, with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner as a leading figure. A few years later, Der Blaue Reiter followed, including Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky among its members.
Both groups had great significance for Expressionist forms not only in Germany but internationally. The masterclass will also look more closely at the period from which the groups’ motifs and moods emerged. It will conclude by placing them alongside other Danish and international artists who likewise worked with expressive forms in their art.
The masterclass will be delivered by ARoS teaching assistant Martin Bjerg Dahl. Dahl is studying for a master’s degree and holds a bachelor’s degree in aesthetics and culture, with art history as a subsidiary subject.
Admission costs DKK 100 in addition to museum admission.
