Waddington’s ‘Modern, Post-War & Contemporary Art’ auction is scheduled to close on Thursday, October 8, with bidding beginning to close at 3 p.m. ET. Public previews are scheduled at Waddington’s Toronto gallery on October 5 and 6, with additional previews by appointment on October 1 and 2.
The auction is centred around artworks by Canadian and international artists including William Perehudoff, Frederick Grant Banting, Edward Seago, John Geoffrey Caruthers Little, John Hartman, Joseph Fafard and Kathleen Margaret (K.M.) Howitt Graham. It also features works by Tony Scherman, Joseph Yvon Fafard, John Whorf, Emili Grau i Sala and William Goodridge Roberts, alongside a selection of drawings and paintings by William Hodd McElcheran, Sandro Chia, Illingworth Holey Kerr and Doris Jean McCarthy.
Frederick Grant Banting is represented in the catalogue by ‘Cobalt, ca. 1932’. The catalogue includes A.J. Casson’s ‘Windy Landscape, McGregor Bay’ and ‘Bon Echo’.
Illingworth Holey Kerr’s catalogue entries include ‘Poplars, Evening’, ‘Harvest Time Prairies’ and ‘Prairie Slough with Wild Barley and Sunflowers, 1950’.
The auction catalogue also lists George Franklin Arbuckle’s ‘Western Hemlock, BC’ and Charles Fraser Comfort’s ‘Balsam Trees, Winter’.
