Rooted in drawing and driven by an instinctive visual language, DeMarco’s practice transforms sketches, notes, symbols, memories, and spontaneous marks into layered compositions that move between abstraction and figuration.
DeMarco is a contemporary American artist whose work combines expressive line, vivid color, intuitive composition, Neo-Expressionism, graffiti, Japanese calligraphy, folk art, and tattoo culture.
‘Three Kings’ (2025) emerged without a predetermined concept or narrative, as the artist’s intention was simply to make a painting that felt visually compelling, while three block-like figures gradually appeared within the composition through the intuitive process of painting rather than through planning. Although the number three carries countless symbolic associations, the artist deliberately resists assigning significance where none was intended; the figures exist because they worked formally, visually, and instinctively.
‘The Life in the Woods’ (2026) is described as emerging intuitively from the landscape that surrounds him and resisting the artist’s attempt to fully understand or define it.
