Oliver Cole Gallery has introduced Kai “Raws” Imhof, a Berlin-based contemporary artist whose practice spans graffiti, urban art, geometric abstraction, graphic design and painting.
Imhof began painting graffiti in Berlin in 2004. He later studied graphic design in the city, completing his training in 2015 and receiving an award for the best graduation project. He describes his process of reducing graffiti to line, shape, colour, gesture and spatial construction as Neograffism.
Working primarily with acrylic and spray paint on canvas, Imhof constructs compositions using hard-edged forms, shadows, overlapping planes and contrasting fields of colour. A recurring element is the CHAOS motif, a network of lines and geometric shapes that produces illusions of depth and spatial movement.
Works presented include ‘Spring’ (2025), acrylics and spray paint on canvas, 100 cm in height; ‘No Title’ (2025), also acrylics and spray paint on canvas, 100 cm in height; and ‘Space Invader’ (2026), acrylics and spray paint on canvas, measuring 80 by 80 cm.
