An announcement introduces Luis Saldaña, a Cuban contemporary artist, and says that the Aldo Castillo Gallery website has been completely redesigned with new features for collectors. Saldaña’s work explores insularity, memory, and the shifting relationship between reality and reflection.
The sea and water are central to his artistic universe, appearing as reflective surfaces through which reality becomes transformed. This focus places water at the center of a practice concerned with how reality changes through reflection.
Drawing upon the gestural traditions of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, Saldaña uses color, movement, and reflection to explore perception, memory, distance, and longing. In the related works, the sea and water emerge as reflective surfaces that mirror an alternate reality: unstable, unrepeatable fragments of form captured and frozen from the flux of everyday life.
Luis Alberto Saldaña Soto graduated with honors at the Provincial Academy of Fine Arts “Eduardo Abela” in San Antonio de los Baños and is a member of the Cuban Writers and Artists Union, UNEAC.
Highlighted works include ‘Serie Agua Especular VI’ from 2023 and ‘Serie Agua Especular IX’ from 2024, both oil paintings on canvas. ‘Serie Agua Especular XIV’ is a 2024 oil painting on canvas which the gallery lists as a unique work on view at its Naples, Florida space.
