‘The Photographs’ auction is scheduled to close on Thursday, October 8, with bidding beginning to close at 2 p.m. ET.
Public previews are scheduled at Waddington’s Toronto gallery on October 5 and 6, while additional previews will be available by appointment on October 1 and 2.
The sale includes photographs and literature from the collection of the late Ignas Gabalis, who served as Yousuf Karsh’s master printer from 1951 to 1992.
Its selection of Canadian and international photographic masters includes Yousuf Karsh, Richard Harrington, André Kertész, Edward Weston, Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton and Julius Schulman.
The offering also spans historical photography by Pascal Sébah and William Notman and contemporary works by John Massey, Mayumi Terada and Jimmy Limit.
