Arts d’Australie • Stéphane Jacob gallery will present ‘GW BOT | Glyphmaker’, a solo exhibition by Australian artist G.W. Bot, in Paris from 15 October 2026 to 23 January 2027.
Through linocut—her medium of choice—as well as drawing, watercolour, painting and sculpture, Bot has developed a distinctive language of glyphs: poetic signs inspired by the textures, rhythms, light and atmosphere of the landscape. The exhibition text places these forms at the intersection of writing and abstraction, saying they do not seek to represent nature but to reveal its sensory and universal dimension.
Born in 1954 in Quetta, Pakistan, to Australian parents, Bot grew up in several countries as her father, a military officer, was posted to different locations; she is now based in Canberra, where the Australian landscape is a primary source of inspiration.
In the exhibition text, landscape becomes memory, language and inner space, while the tree and garden evoke cycles of transformation and regeneration, as well as the fragility of life.
A preview is scheduled for 15 October from 5 to 9 pm, followed by an opening on 17 October from 3 pm; Bot will be present at the gallery from 14 to 24 October 2026.
