‘Schjerfbeck X Nordean Taidesäätiö’ is scheduled to run in the gallery from 25 September to 8 November 2026.
The exhibition presents five Helene Schjerfbeck works from the Nordea Art Foundation collection.
It also offers a rare opportunity to explore works by Schjerfbeck that are less well known.
The selected works cover almost the entirety of Schjerfbeck’s artistic career and provide glimpses of different phases in its development. Those phases extend from early history subjects to spiritualized portraits, placing works from distinctly different points in her career within the exhibition’s selection. Schjerfbeck is described as one of the most highly regarded figures in Finnish art and as a pioneer of modern art.
In autumn 2026, Jyväskylä Art Museum is also organizing three expert lectures related to Helene Schjerfbeck.
