'Workers of the Mill' Goes on View at the Dayton Art Institute

'Workers of the Mill' goes on view at the Dayton Art Institute.

The work is dedicated to honoring the men and women who make up Dayton’s rich working-class cultural heritage, both past and present.

'Workers of the Mill' is a collaboration between community participants at one of the Dayton Art Institute’s workshops and the institution’s 2026 Yeck Artists in Residence, identical twin brothers Kyle and Kelly Phelps.

Kyle and Kelly Phelps are American artists born in 1972. Kelly Phelps is a professor of art at Xavier University in Cincinnati, while Kyle Phelps is a professor of art at the University of Dayton; the brothers share a studio in Centerville, Ohio.

The work is a 2026 ceramic mixed-media piece by Kyle and Kelly Phelps.
