The exhibition is framed as a critical examination of the relationships between modernity, colonialism and the fascination with 'the exotic,' as well as an attempt to decolonize European visual culture.
Its starting point is a group of paintings and sculptures by Kinga Nowak, which will be shown alongside folk art, objects described as 'primitive,' archival materials and works by prominent avant-garde artists.
The project is a solo presentation of Nowak, identified in the announcement as a Polish painter and sculptor.
