Andrea Ravo Mattoni’s exhibition ‘La recherche de l’eau’ will run from 17 September to 10 October 2026.
The exhibition is built around a paradox: people search for water even though they are water themselves. Water is presented not only as the subject of the works, but as an ongoing origin and a formless matter capable of receiving every form.
The exhibition text links water to the quantum field, describing bodies and forms as temporary configurations that emerge from a larger reality without being truly separate from it.
Its stated conceptual vocabulary is ‘water, body, field, experience’. The accompanying text describes images as preserving and transforming traces of experience into the possibility of a new encounter, rather than containing the experience from which they arise.
Mattoni began writing under the alias RAVO in 1995, when his graffiti appeared on trains, and later studied oil and acrylic painting on canvas at Milan’s Academy of Fine Arts, partly abandoning spray paint.
