SculptureCenter has selected Anastasia Sosunova through its In Practice 2027 Open Call for Artist Proposals, with the project on view in May and June 2027.
Sosunova will create an environment combining video, printmaking, and sculpture, informed by rituals, mythologies, DIY retail culture, and shortages of homebuilding supplies.
Working across video, printmaking, and sculpture, her installations draw on shared rituals and mythologies to mobilize community thinking, while her projects address the coexistence of seemingly incompatible value systems.
For In Practice, Sosunova will build an environment evoking both the anarchic logic of hand-building and a moody Eastern European futurism.

The project is made possible by SculptureCenter’s Elaine Graham Weitzen Commissioning Fund for Emerging Artists, which supports new work by artists selected from the institution’s annual open call.
