Bronx Museum to Present ‘The WoodsWoman Method’ from October 2026

As the first chapter of a multi-year initiative, Saya Woolfalk’s ‘The WoodsWoman Method’ will be presented at The Bronx Museum from October 9, 2026, through winter 2027; Woolfalk completed the museum’s AIM Fellowship in 2009.

The project will place WoodsWoman process materials alongside Woolfalk’s selections from the collection and include workshops led by the artist with the museum’s Education Department.

Functioning as both an exhibition and a laboratory, ‘The WoodsWoman Method’ will inform Woolfalk’s commissioned inaugural installation for the museum’s renovated main lobby.

The project was curated in collaboration with Eileen Jeng Lynch, the Bronx Museum’s Director of Curatorial Programs, with support from Summer 2026 Curatorial Intern Karthik Tambar.

Woolfalk is a New York-based artist who uses science fiction and fantasy to re-imagine the world in multiple dimensions.

Across the multi-year projects ‘No Place,’ ‘The Empathics’ and ‘ChimaTEK,’ she has created the Empathics, a fictional race of women who can alter their genetic make-up and fuse with plants.

With each body of work, Woolfalk continues to build the narrative of these women’s lives and questions the utopian possibilities of cultural hybridity.
