Kunsthaus Zürich will present ‘Evergreens: Selected Works from the Collection’ from 11 September 2026 to 10 January 2027. Installed in the Chipperfield building, the exhibition brings together paintings, sculptures and works on paper made between 1622 and 1998 across approximately 800 square metres.
Curated by Maja Wismer, the presentation places selected collection works in chronological and transhistorical groups. Claude Monet’s works are shown alongside works by Ferdinand Hodler, Paul Gauguin and Pierre Bonnard, while a monumental machine sculpture by Jean Tinguely is paired with a painting by H. R. Giger.
Among the artists represented are Albert Anker, Francis Bacon, Heidi Bucher, Auguste Rodin, Cindy Sherman, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Pablo Picasso and Marlow Moss. Works cited in the display include Monet’s water lilies, Andy Warhol’s soup can, Arnold Böcklin’s preaching Saint Anthony, Bacon’s ‘Three Studies of the Male Back. Triptych’ and Franz Gertsch’s ‘Franz und Luciano’.
The exhibition is complemented by texts from Zurich residents, who have each selected a collection work and reflected on its personal significance. ‘Evergreens’ has been supported by a Zurich cultural foundation and the Ernst Göhner Foundation.
