Sheldon Statewide: ‘Hyphen American’ is traveling to eight Nebraska venues from August 28, 2026, through June 2, 2027. The presentation was adapted from ‘Hyphen American: Intersections of Identity’, which was presented at Sheldon Museum of Art in spring 2026 and organized by Christian Wurst, associate curator for exhibitions.
The exhibition considers how identity is presented and interrogated in visual art. Its artworks address artists’ presentations of themselves and others, depictions of histories and struggles, and the formation of communities and rituals.
The tour began at Chadron State College in Chadron, where it runs through September 28. It will then travel to Prairie Arts Center, North Platte, October 1–November 1; Museum of the High Plains, McCook, November 4–December 2; Grand Island Public Library, January 6–February 3, 2027; Cornerstone Bank, York, February 5–March 3; Beatrice Public Library, March 5–31; Stalder Gallery, Falls City Library and Arts Center, April 2–May 5; and Gallery 92 West, Fremont, May 7–June 2.
