Sebastian Blind presents ‘Passage’ at Bror Hjorths Hus in Uppsala from 5 September to 4 October 2026. The exhibition is the presentation accompanying Blind’s designation as Bror Hjorthföreningen’s drawing scholarship recipient for 2026.
‘Passage’ consists principally of large-format charcoal drawings. Blind’s Sámi heritage forms the foundation of a practice that draws on shamanic practice, with respect for all living things and reverence for creation central to the work. The artist regards charcoal as a powerful creative tool connected to fire.
Blind, born in 1986, is an artist based in Ubmeje (Umeå) and is a recent graduate of the Bachelor’s programme in Fine Art at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
The exhibition opens on 5 September at 2pm, when Ylva Hillström, chair of the drawing scholarship jury, will welcome visitors and Blind will briefly introduce the exhibition. Blind will discuss the exhibition and his practice on 16 September at 7pm, followed by an adult workshop focused on charcoal on 17 September, from 6pm to 8pm.
