Seattle Art Museum’s SAM Gallery will present ‘Night Out,’ a group exhibition featuring work by Joseph Steininger, Katie Metz and Jose Rodriguez III, from September 2 through 27, 2026. The presentation will be on view at SAM Gallery, the museum’s art sales and rental gallery for contemporary original works by Northwest artists.
Organized around the experience of going out after dark, the presentation considers the places and activities that shape nightlife in a city. Seattle Art Museum describes the theme broadly, encompassing both the indoor and outdoor dimensions of a night out, from social encounters and entertainment to the urban settings that become part of personal memories.
Steininger’s work is represented by pieces made with intricately detailed, hand-cut stencils and spray paint, combined with traditional fine-art forms. The museum identifies this approach as central to the artist’s practice in the exhibition. One featured work, ‘Blue Moon,’ is listed as spray paint on panel and measures 24 by 36 inches.
