The event will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. The lecture will focus on the recent conservation of Mark di Suvero’s ‘Schubert Sonata’ at Olympic Sculpture Park.
‘Schubert Sonata’ is a 1992 work by American artist Mark di Suvero, who was born in 1933, and is located at Olympic Sculpture Park. The program will follow the artwork’s conservation journey, examining the careful research, questions asked by conservators, discoveries made, and treatment decisions that revealed new insights hidden beneath the sculpture’s surface.
Before the talk, visitors can step inside the Atsuhiko and Ina Goodwin Tateuchi Conservation Center to see where the conservation team gives historic Asian art new life.
The series takes place at the Seattle Asian Art Museum on Third Thursdays from September through November, from 6 to 7:30 pm, and is exclusively for SAM members.
