Malba Puertos will open ‘Hola, ¿Estás? Arte argentino entre los 90 y los 2000 (y algunas interferencias históricas)’, a survey drawn from the Malba–Costantini Collection and focused on Argentine art produced during the 1990s and 2000s. Curated by Alejandra Aguado, the exhibition will bring around 60 paintings, sculptures and videos to the museum’s site in Puertos, Belén de Escobar, from 19 September 2026 through 28 February 2027. The opening on Saturday 19 September will begin at 11am, with free admission.
The exhibition forms part of ‘Latinoamérica en expansión’, the programme presented by Malba for its 25th anniversary. Its central question is how artists represented their own existence—“intimate and vital”—within the contemporary urban environment. Alongside works from the 1990s and 2000s, the presentation introduces pieces by artists from earlier generations, creating what the museum describes as historical “interferences” within the main chronology.
Artists included in the exhibition are Diana Aisenberg, Ernesto Ballesteros, Diego Bianchi, Marina De Caro, Leopoldo Estol, Alberto Goldenstein, Sebastián Gordín, Roberto Jacoby, Magdalena Jitrik, Daniel Joglar, Fabio Kacero, Guillermo Kuitca, Alejandro Kuropatwa, Alfredo Londaibere, Ana López, Jorge Macchi, Liliana Maresca, Karina Peisajovich, Mariela Scafati, Cristina Schiavi and Pablo Zicarello. Their work will be shown in historical dialogue with pieces by Roberto Aizenberg, Antonio Berni, Margarita Paksa, Anita Payró, Federico Manuel Peralta Ramos and Pablo Suárez, among others.
Most of the works come from the Malba and Eduardo F. Costantini collections. The exhibition also includes loans from artists and private collections, according to the museum, supplementing Aguado’s curatorial framework. The presentation is concerned not only with a period of production but also with the ways artists addressed the city, personal experience and changing forms of self-representation.
A separate installation by Mariano Ullúa will be presented in the museum’s Salas del Bosque for the same period, from 19 September through 28 February. Developed especially for Malba Puertos, the installation will consist of the artist’s characteristic wire sculptures and will treat drawing as something that can leave the page and expand into space at a different scale. Ullúa was born in Mar del Plata in 1976.
At Malba’s main Buenos Aires venue, the anniversary programme will also add three new sections to ‘Latinoamérica en expansión’ on 19 September. That exhibition presents around 150 works made between 1900 and the 1970s across eleven thematic sections, and the new additions will include approximately 30 works from the collection, whose holdings have recently expanded through the incorporation of the Daros Latinamerica Collection. The Puertos exhibition will remain on view at Alisal 160, Bahía, Puertos, in Escobar, Province of Buenos Aires, with free admission.
